Dr. Katie Unverferth

 
 
 

Dr. Katie Unverferth is an expert in Reproductive Psychiatry and Women’s Mental Health and treats conditions such as premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), depression in pregnancy, postpartum depression, postpartum psychosis, and perimenopausal depression and anxiety. She is currently the Director of the world-renowned UCLA Women’s Life Center and is the Medical Director of the UCLA Maternal Mental Health Program. Dr. Unverferth sees adults in Los Angeles, California from her private practice in Santa Monica.

Dr. Katie lectures nationally on topics such as depression in pregnancy, postpartum depression, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. She teaches psychiatry trainees at the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine in Reproductive Psychiatry and Women’s Mental Health, and is an Assistant Clinical Professor at UCLA.

Dr. Katie is an expert on the use of medications for pregnant & postpartum women, PMDD, and perimenopausal mood and anxiety disorders. She also completed the Mood Disorders Fellowship at UCLA and treats other mental health conditions including anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, insomnia, and ADHD.

Dr. Unverferth is trained extensively in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic psychotherapy. There are times, for certain conditions, when more specialized care may be helpful. If that is the case, she will provide appropriate referrals.
